Baby Boxes

We believe that we all succeed by giving our children the best opportunity to grow up happy and healthy.

Expecting families within the 17512 zip code are eligible to receive a free Baby Box to promote safe sleep practices for infants, regardless of income. The program provides parents with a safe place for infants to sleep (a cardboard bassinet with a firm mattress and fitted sheet), bodysuits, bibs, wash cloths, socks, a wearable blanket, burp cloths, and parent education about safe sleep.

When putting your baby to sleep remember to use the ABC’s:

First Foods Access for Everyone (FACE)

Committed to assuring every child in the Lancaster Community has the opportunity to grow up happy and healthy, Healthy Columbia launched the First Foods Access for Everyone Initiative (FACE) in January 2018.  FACE has been designed to assure that every child 12 months and younger has access to formula and nutritious first foods regardless of income.

The initiative is not intended to replace existing programs and supports in the community including the food bank, SNAP and WIC programs, but rather is meant to supplement existing resources to assure that no child under the age of one experiences food insecurity in our community.  While many food access programs and supports are income based, the FACE Initiative does not have an income requirement and extends access to all families regardless of their income.

Enrolling in this program is easy. Caregivers of infants living in the 17512 zip code can go to the Susquehanna Valley Pregnancy Services- Columbia Pregnancy Clinic (501 Walnut St. Columbia) to fill out a short enrollment form. Caregivers can access this program one time every other month for their infants.
